About me…
My name is Cana Restall and I am a musician, composer and instrumental tutor. I grew up in Kendal, Cumbria where I was inspired to pursue music as a career.
I received a Bachelor’s degree in Music and a Master’s in Composition from Bangor University in North Wales. Following my graduation in 2022, I worked in North Wales as a music tutor, delivering 1-to-1 instrumental lessons and group music workshops. I now live and work in the lovely South Lakes area with my husband.
I enjoy teaching piano, working with children and composing. My favourite artists and composers are: Debussy, Chopin, Joni Mitchell, Hans Zimmer and The Beatles.
My teaching style
I believe in adapting to the needs and interests of the student. I always take into account my pupil’s style of learning and what kinds of music they are passionate about. Then together, we can choose specific exercises, practise schedules and pieces.
Question asking is always encouraged - no question is too silly! My main goals are to see my students grow in their love for the piano and work through performance pieces that inspire them.
My Performance Style
My favourite genres to play in a live music setting are folk, jazz and rock but I like to think I can cover most genres and play suitable music for all kinds of settings.
Here are some of my favourite songs to perform:
All My Lovin’ - The Beatles
Dreams - The Cranberries
Carey - Joni Mitchell
Beyond the Sea - Bobby Darin
Blue Sky - Joan Baez
Don’t Worry Baby - The Beach Boys
