You can begin at any age! Whether you are 4 or 94, piano is for everyone.
I usually recommend that if your young child expresses interest that they at least be school aged so that they have the ability to listen to instruction and know their numbers and letters.

I would definitely recommend having your own piano, especially for practicing. But I wouldn't want access to an instrument to stop anyone from reaching out and starting to learn.

My main instrument is piano. I am a grade 8 pianist and started learning piano when I was five years old.
I have received vocal training up to grade 7 standard and enjoy singing in choirs and at church.
I also enjoy playing informally (and mostly quite badly) guitar, ukulele and was recently gifted a banjo.
